What is Preputioplasty (Dorsal Slit + Transverse Closure)?

Preputioplasty is a foreskin-preserving surgical procedure that widens a narrow preputial opening (phimosis) without removing the foreskin. A dorsal longitudinal incision is made through the tight preputial ring and closed transversely (Heineke-Mikulicz principle), immediately widening the opening. It is suitable for mild to moderate phimosis in patients who wish to retain their foreskin for cultural, religious, or personal reasons. The procedure is performed under general or spinal anaesthesia with a hospital stay of Day Care. Success rates reach >85% in appropriately selected patients at experienced centres.

Patients with mild to moderate phimosis who wish to preserve the foreskin, and in whom the phimosis is restricted to the preputial opening without extensive scarring or lichen sclerosus.
