Conventional Surgical Circumcision
Traditional Surgical Circumcision with Suture Closure
What is Conventional Surgical Circumcision?
Conventional Surgical Circumcision is the classic technique for foreskin removal using a scalpel and scissors, followed by haemostasis with diathermy or ties, and wound closure with absorbable sutures. It remains the most widely practised circumcision method worldwide, providing excellent cosmetic and functional results. The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia in children and general or local anaesthesia in adults. The procedure is performed under general or spinal anaesthesia with a hospital stay of Day Care. Success rates reach >98% in appropriately selected patients at experienced centres.
How the Procedure Works

Incision & Access

Tissue Resection
Foreskin excised preserving sufficient shaft skin and frenular vessels.
Haemostasis
Bleeding vessels coagulated with bipolar diathermy or fine ties.
Repair & Closure
Inner and outer skin edges apposed with interrupted absorbable sutures.
